أَبشِرْ خَليلَ العُلى لا زِلتَ ذا شَرَفٍ

أَبشِرْ خَليلَ العُلى لا زِلتَ ذا شَرَفٍ

فَالسّعدُ وافاكَ أَسناهُ وَأَسعدهُ

فَالسّعدُ وافاكَ أَسناهُ وَأَسعدهُ

Rejoice, Khalil of lofty rank; may you ever remain honored.

Rejoice, O intimate friend of the Most High! You remain ever noble.

For the most splendid and blissful good fortune has come to you.

Good fortune has attended you, making you joyous and blissful.

أَبشِر بِمَولدِ مَولودٍ حبيتَ بهِ

أَبشِر بِمَولدِ مَولودٍ حبيتَ بهِ

في ذَروَةِ السّعدِ وَالإِسعادِ مَولدهُ

في ذَروَةِ السّعدِ وَالإِسعادِ مَولدهُ

Rejoice in the birth of a newborn with whom you have been blessed.

Rejoice at the birth of a newborn you have come to love,

His birth stands at the summit of good fortune and joy.

Born at the peak of fortune and felicity.

المَجدُ مُرضِعهُ وَالعزُّ حاضنهُ

المَجدُ مُرضِعهُ وَالعزُّ حاضنهُ

وَالسّعدُ خادِمهُ وَاليمنُ يَعضدهُ

وَالسّعدُ خادِمهُ وَاليمنُ يَعضدهُ

Glory is his wet nurse, and honor his guardian.

Glory is his wet nurse, honor his guardian,

And good fortune is his servant, and blessing supports him.

Good fortune his servant, auspiciousness his supporter.

تَعلو مَراتِبهُ أَوج العُلى شَرفاً

تَعلو مَراتِبهُ أَوج العُلى شَرفاً

فَوقَ السّماكِ وَيَسمو الدَّهرَ سُؤددهُ

فَوقَ السّماكِ وَيَسمو الدَّهرَ سُؤددهُ

His ranks rise in honor to the zenith of eminence,

His status ascends to the highest zenith in nobility,

Above al-Simak, and his nobility soars for all time.

Above the heavens, and he surpasses the ages in glory.

أَتاكَ قُرّة عَينٍ قَد سررتَ بِها

أَتاكَ قُرّة عَينٍ قَد سررتَ بِها

وَالبشرُ زَيّن منكَ الطّرفَ أثمدهُ

وَالبشرُ زَيّن منكَ الطّرفَ أثمدهُ

A delight to your eye has come to you, and you have rejoiced in it;

He has come to you as the delight of an eye, gladdening you,

And gladness's kohl has adorned your eye.

And mankind sees beauty in you since his advent.

ويا له نِعمة في الدَّهرِ قَد عَظمَت

ويا له نِعمة في الدَّهرِ قَد عَظمَت

وَمَنَّ فيها عَلَيك اللَّه موجدهُ

وَمَنَّ فيها عَلَيك اللَّه موجدهُ

And what a blessing, grown great indeed in this life!

What an immense blessing he is in this life!

And God, his Creator, has favored you through it.

God has bestowed him upon you as a gift.

شُكراً لِمَن فيهِ قَد أَولى وَجادَ بِهِ

شُكراً لِمَن فيهِ قَد أَولى وَجادَ بِهِ

وَالحَمدُ للَّه مَولانا وَنحمدهُ

وَالحَمدُ للَّه مَولانا وَنحمدهُ

Thanks to Him who bestowed favor through him and generously gave him;

Thanks to Him who has been so benevolent and generous with him.

And praise be to God, our Master, and we praise Him.

And praise be to God, our Master, whom we praise,

يَحيا سَعيداً يَعيشُ الدّهرَ في نِعمٍ

يَحيا سَعيداً يَعيشُ الدّهرَ في نِعمٍ

وَعَيشهُ الدّهرَ أَهنى العيشِ أَرغدُهُ

وَعَيشهُ الدّهرَ أَهنى العيشِ أَرغدُهُ

May he live happily, spending all his days amid blessings,

May he live happily and prosperously for lifetimes,

And may his life always be the most blissful and comfortable of lives,

With a life of ease and tranquility, then wellness,

بِراحَةٍ وَصَفاءٍ ثمَّ عافيةٍ

بِراحَةٍ وَصَفاءٍ ثمَّ عافيةٍ

بِطولِ عُمرٍ وَلا يَفنى تجدّدهُ

بِطولِ عُمرٍ وَلا يَفنى تجدّدهُ

With ease and serenity, then good health,

Long life without end or decay.

With a long life, and may its renewal never fade.

He occupies the abode of nobility and pride, with honor,

يَحلّ بيتَ العُلى وَالفخرِ مِن شَرفٍ

يَحلّ بيتَ العُلى وَالفخرِ مِن شَرفٍ

وَالعزّ يَبنيهِ وَالعليا تشيّدهُ

وَالعزّ يَبنيهِ وَالعليا تشيّدهُ

He dwells in the house of eminence and pride, built of honor,

And might builds it, and the exalted establish it.

And honor builds it, while loftiness raises it.

You see him as a grandfather, and the grandfather of his ancestor,

تَراه جدّاً وَجدّ الجدّ مُمتطياً

تَراه جدّاً وَجدّ الجدّ مُمتطياً

طِرف المَعالي وَأَنّ السّعد مقودهُ

طِرف المَعالي وَأَنّ السّعد مقودهُ

You will see him a grandfather, and a grandfather's grandfather, mounted on

Riding the edge of greatness, for fortune guides him.

The noble steed of high achievements, with good fortune as its reins.

So congratulate yourself, O cheek of glory, rejoice!

فَاِهنَأ بِهِ يا خَدين المَجدِ ذا فرحٍ

فَاِهنَأ بِهِ يا خَدين المَجدِ ذا فرحٍ

هَنّاكَ فيهِ إِلهُ العَرشِ سيِّدهُ

هَنّاكَ فيهِ إِلهُ العَرشِ سيِّدهُ

So rejoice in him, O companion of glory, filled with joy;

For the God of the Throne is his Master.

May the God of the Throne, its Lord, grant you joy in him.

This, O valiant one, is cause to celebrate! Announce it!

فَذاكَ يا شَهم أَبشِر أرخوه بِهِ

فَذاكَ يا شَهم أَبشِر أرخوه بِهِ

بَدر بَدا في ثُريّا اليمنِ مَولدهُ

بَدر بَدا في ثُريّا اليمنِ مَولدهُ

So rejoice at that, O noble-hearted man; they dated it thus:

A full moon has risen in Thurayya, the land of auspiciousness, the place of his birth.

A full moon has appeared in the Pleiades of blessing—his birth.
