زَنَتcommitted adultery مُقلَتيmy eye لَمّاwhen رَأَتit saw شَمسَthe sun of وَجهِهِhis face
زَنَت مُقلَتي لَمّا رَأَت شَمسَ وَجهِهِ
وَقَدand indeed قَذَفَتit cast forth بِالدَّمعِwith tears يَهميstreams وَتَذرفُand it sheds tears
وَقَد قَذَفَت بِالدَّمعِ يَهمي وَتَذرفُ
My eye committed adultery when it saw the sun of his face.
My eyelids flirted when they saw the sun of his face,
And it cast forth tears that stream, and it sheds them.
And they shed tears flowing and pouring down.
وَماand no لِزِناهاfor its adultery ثمَّthere حدٌّprescribed punishment كَقَذفِهاlike its casting of tears
وَما لِزِناها ثمَّ حدٌّ كَقَذفِها
وَلَمand not يَكُthere was حَدٌّprescribed punishment وَهيَwhile it تَزنيcommits adultery وتقذِفُand casts forth tears
وَلَم يَكُ حَدٌّ وَهيَ تَزني وتقذِفُ
And there is no penalty for its adultery, just as none for its casting of tears.
And their flirting had no limit, like their shedding,
And there was no penalty while it committed adultery and cast forth tears.
With no limit, they flirted and poured down.
