مُحيّاface شَقيقtwin of الشّمسِthe sun رَوضُa garden of مَحاسنٍcharms
مُحيّا شَقيق الشّمسِ رَوضُ مَحاسنٍ
بِهِaround it تُحدِقُencircle الأَحداقُthe eyes مِنfrom كلِّevery عاشِقِlover
بِهِ تُحدِقُ الأَحداقُ مِن كلِّ عاشِقِ
The face of the sun’s twin is a garden of charms.
Greetings, O brother of the sun, garden of beauties,
The eyes of every lover encircle it.
With you, all enamored eyes are entranced,
عَلىupon وَردِهits rose أَضحَتthey have become عِذاراًcheek-down تظلّهthey shade it
عَلى وَردِه أَضحَت عِذاراً تظلّه
تَقيهِthey protect it بِهاwith them فيthroughout الدَّهرِtime مِنfrom كلِّevery طارِقِnight visitor
تَقيهِ بِها في الدَّهرِ مِن كلِّ طارِقِ
Upon its rose, they have become cheek-down that shades it,
Your roses have become a maiden's coyness that shades them,
Protecting it thereby, throughout time, from every night visitor.
With it you protect them in life from every desiring one.
