وَطارَت بِهِ الأَرواحُ إِذ قامَ يَصرخُ
He sang to the flute and stole away reason.
He played the flute and stole the heart
And souls soared with him when he rose to cry out.
The spirits soared when he began to cry
وَعادَتand returned إِلىto المِزمارِthe flute قطعاًcertainly حَياتُهُits life
وَعادَت إِلى المِزمارِ قطعاً حَياتُهُ
أَماwas not? كانَwas فيهِinto it الروحthe spirit لاno شَكّdoubt ينفخُbeing breathed
أَما كانَ فيهِ الروح لا شَكّ ينفخُ
And the flute surely regained its life.
His life returned to the flute piece by piece
Was not the spirit, beyond doubt, being breathed into it?
Did it not hold the breath he used to blow?
