وَعقابand an eagle جورٍof tyranny كاسِرٍpredatory يَسطوswoops عَلىupon
وَعقاب جورٍ كاسِرٍ يَسطو عَلى
أَسنىthe finest الطّيورِbirds يَصيدُهاhunts them ماhow أَجبَرَهtyrannical he is!
أَسنى الطّيورِ يَصيدُها ما أَجبَرَه
And a predatory eagle of tyranny swoops upon
The unjust falcon's claw preys
the finest birds, hunting them—how tyrannical he is!
On the finest birds, ensnaring them though they ne'er harmed him.
أَرسِلْsend لَهto him رَبَّO Lord of السّماheaven بَديلهاin their stead
أَرسِلْ لَه رَبَّ السّما بَديلها
إبّالةa bundle of firewood وَإِليهِand to him أَرسِلْsend قنبرَهa lark
إبّالة وَإِليهِ أَرسِلْ قنبرَه
Send him, O Lord of heaven, in their stead,
May Heaven send them a replacement!
a bundle of firewood, and send him a lark.
And to him may it dispatch its punishment!
