تَبَدّىappeared عِذارُdown along the cheeks الحبِّthe beloved وَالبدرُand the full moon وَجههُhis face
تَبَدّى عِذارُ الحبِّ وَالبدرُ وَجههُ
لَقَدindeed شَفَّwas clear كَالمرآةِlike a mirror لَمdid not أَرَI see أمثالَهْits equals
لَقَد شَفَّ كَالمرآةِ لَم أَرَ أمثالَهْ
The beloved’s cheek-down appeared, his face the full moon.
The radiance of love and the full moon appeared
Indeed, it was clear as a mirror; I have never seen its like.
It healed like a mirror, I have not seen the like of it
وَفيهِand in it عُيونeyes العاشِقينَthe lovers تَصَوّرتwere reflected
وَفيهِ عُيون العاشِقينَ تَصَوّرت
كَأَنَّas though عَلَيهupon it مِنof عُيونِهمُtheir eyes هالَهa halo
كَأَنَّ عَلَيه مِن عُيونِهمُ هالَه
And in it the lovers’ eyes were reflected,
In it the eyes of lovers are imagined
As though a halo of their eyes lay upon it.
As if it has an aura from their eyes upon it
