And his drowsy glance is, to me, the most skillful sorcerer;
His glance, so alluring, is a master sorcerer
He learned the art of magic and took to it naturally.
Learned in magic, a natural born enchanter

He began to guard the radiant sun's gate,

And to guard a crop for him from the garden of cheeks.
And guards the garden of his cheek
فَمِنso from نَرجِسٍa narcissus فيin الطَرفthe eye صَيّرhe fashioned صارماًa sharp sword
فَمِن نَرجِسٍ في الطَرف صَيّر صارماً

وَصَيَّر مِن آسِ العذارِ لَهُ دِرعا
So from a narcissus in the eye he fashioned a sharp sword,
So from the narcissus of his eyes he fashions a sword
And from the myrtle of the cheek-down he fashioned a shield for him.
And from myrtle branches, armor he crafted
