كُن يا اِبنَ وُدّي صَموتاً

فَالصّمتُ لِلمَرءِ حِرزُ

فَالصّمتُ لِلمَرءِ حِرزُ

Be sparing of speech, O son of my affection;

Be silent, my dear son,

For silence is a safeguard for a person.

For silence is a man's safeguard.

وَكُن خَليلي صَدوقاً

وَكُن خَليلي صَدوقاً

فَالصّدقُ مَجدٌ وَعِزُّ

فَالصّدقُ مَجدٌ وَعِزُّ

And be truthful, my dear friend;

Be honest, my friend,

For truthfulness is glory and honor.

For truthfulness is glory and might.
