وَبارِدand cold طَبعٍof temperament قَدhad تَقلَّدgirded himself with صارِماًa sharp sword
وَبارِد طَبعٍ قَد تَقلَّد صارِماً
وَأَظهَرَand made apparent بَينَamong النّاسِthe people إِفراطَthe excess of ضيرهِhis harm
وَأَظهَرَ بَينَ النّاسِ إِفراطَ ضيرهِ
And a cold-natured man had girded himself with a sharp sword,
With an icy and austere disposition he bears
And made his excessive harm plain among the people.
And manifests among the people his excessive harm
وَقالَand he said بِسَيفيwith my sword أَوor بِطَبعيwith my temperament أُبيدُكمI shall destroy you
وَقالَ بِسَيفي أَو بِطَبعي أُبيدُكم
وَمَنand whoever لَمdid not يَمُتdie بِالسّيفِby the sword ماتَdied بِغَيرِهِby something other than it
وَمَن لَم يَمُت بِالسّيفِ ماتَ بِغَيرِهِ
And he said, “With my sword or my temperament I shall destroy you;
He said with my sword or my disposition I will destroy you
And whoever does not die by the sword dies by something else.”
And whoever does not die by the sword will die by another means
