ما أَجمَل الحسنَ على خُدودهِ

ما أَجمَل الحسنَ على خُدودهِ

لا حُسنَ يَبدو مثلَ حسنِ الخدِّ

لا حُسنَ يَبدو مثلَ حسنِ الخدِّ

How lovely is the beauty upon his cheeks!

How beautiful is beauty on his cheeks

No beauty appears like the beauty of the cheek.

No beauty appears like the beauty of the cheek

فَإِنَّ لَهُ في جونَتيهِ بَهجَةً

فَإِنَّ لَهُ في جونَتيهِ بَهجَةً

فَإِنّما البهجَةُ لِابنِ الوَردي

فَإِنّما البهجَةُ لِابنِ الوَردي

For indeed, there is radiance in his two cheeks;

For it has in his cheeks a splendor

For radiance belongs only to Ibn al-Wardi.

For splendor is for the son of roses
