بَنيO sons of العِشقِpassionate love شَمسُthe sun of الجَمالِbeauty هوَتhas sunk
بَني العِشقِ شَمسُ الجَمالِ هوَت
بِغَربِin the west of العِذارِthe cheek-down مِنَof الأشنَبِthe white-toothed one
بِغَربِ العِذارِ مِنَ الأشنَبِ
O sons of love, the sun of beauty has sunk
The sun of beauty set in the land of love
in the west of the white-toothed one's cheek-down.
With the blush of coyness in the west
وَسَوفَand will تَعودُreturn طلوعاًrising إِلَيهِto him/it
وَسَوفَ تَعودُ طلوعاً إِلَيهِ
كَأَنْas though لَمdid not تُوَلِّturn away وَلَمand did not تغرُبِset
كَأَنْ لَم تُوَلِّ وَلَم تغرُبِ
And it will return there, rising,
And it will return to rise over it
as though it had neither turned away nor set.
As though it had not set or dipped down

So repent of love before
So repent of love before
we see the sun appear from the west.
We see the sun rise from the west
