O you who forsake me, cease your forsaking!
O traveler away with separation, do not
Do not bring injustice upon me.
Bring me into darkness
ارفقbe gentle بصبwith a lovesick lover مدنفٍgravely ill
ارفق بصب مدنفٍ
البعدseparation عنكfrom you ألمهpained him
البعد عنك ألمه
Be gentle with a lovesick, ailing lover;
Be gentle with a lovesick youth
Separation from you has pained him.
Distance from you hurts him
ماwhat ضرcaused harm لوif أنthat زرتهyou visited him
ما ضر لو أن زرته
لينجليso that it may pass away ماwhat أسقمهmade him ill
لينجلي ما أسقمه
What harm would it do if you visited him,
No harm if you visit him
So that what sickened him might pass away?
To clear what ails him
فامننso bestow a favor بوعدٍwith a promise سيديmy master
فامنن بوعدٍ سيدي
فأنتfor you ربlord المرحمهmercy
فأنت رب المرحمه
So favor me with a promise, my master,
So grant a promise my lord
For you are the lord of mercy.
For you are the lord of mercy
وعاذلand a reproacher قدindeed لامنيblamed me
وعاذل قد لامني
فقلتso I said دعleave off ذاthis الهينمهthe murmuring
فقلت دع ذا الهينمه
And a reproacher has blamed me,
A blamer has blamed me
So I said: Leave off this murmuring.
So I said leave this weak one
لنwill not انثنيI turn back لنwill not أرعويI desist
لن انثني لن أرعوي
لاno والذيby the One who قدindeed تممهperfected him
لا والذي قد تممه
I will not turn back; I will not desist—
I will not bend, I will not quail
No, by Him who has perfected him.
No, by Him who has completed it
