مليح سبى قلبي بنضرة خده
My heart, once rightly guided, has been led astray
My heart which after sanity he misled
By a beauty who captured my heart with his cheek's freshness.
A beautiful one captured my heart with his cheek's radiance

وأوحشت بعد الأنس من اجل بعده
Once proud, I abased myself for love of him,
I humbled myself after dignity for the sake of his love
And after companionship, I grew desolate because of his absence.
And I deserted after intimacy because of his distance

إذا لم يجد يوماً بإنجاز وعده
I know for certain that I shall not survive in love,
I realized that in passion I missed permanence
If he does not one day graciously fulfill his promise.
If one day he doesn't fulfill his promise

وفرط غرامي طاف عن حد حده
My wounds from him have returned as they were in youth,
My wounds with him returned as they were in my prime
And my excessive passion has wandered beyond its furthest bound.
And my fervent love transcended its extent

With my soul I would ransom him who is its utmost desire;
With my soul I ransom the one who has the utmost purpose
And is there anything precious besides my soul with which to ransom him?
Is there anyone more precious than my soul that I ransom

To God I complain of a heart whose longing is for him,
To God from a heart its longing to Him
And of a soul that has melted upon the fire of his rejection.
And from an infatuation that melted for the fire of his closeness

And by love's sanctity, I shall never turn from my passion for him,
By the right of passion, my fervor for him hasn't diminished
And as long as I live, I am to him like his slave.
And I am forever his slave as long as I live

It is love that takes possession of the heart by its power,
It is the love that occupies the chests with its power
And who has the power within him to repel it?
And who has the power to prevent it

سبى قلبي الولهان يوسف حسنه
فمنso who ليfor me بقلبٍwith a heart غيرهother than it أوor بردهwith its return
فمن لي بقلبٍ غيره أو برده
The Joseph of his beauty has captured my lovesick heart;
My delirious heart was captivated by the beauty of Yusuf
So who can give me another heart, or return this one to me?
So who do I have other than it or its consolation

My abasement before him is thus the source of my honor in love,
My origin of dignity in love is through him
And the source of my wealth is my need for his bounty.
And the origin of my wealth is through needing his help

My life for Najd's curving sands, for him who dwelt in those dunes!
By my soul, if glory was for who settled passion
Indeed, I have melted away since I left his gardens of eternity.
I would have melted since I left the gardens of immortality

And I am smitten with a Mudarite, slender of frame and pampered,
In me there is something that hurts my tall, well-off pride
Who lends the full moon radiance from the light of his cheek.
Criticizing the one who brings light from the light of his cheeks

A fair one, flawless in beauty, whose garden of loveliness
A beautiful one, perfect in beauty, a meadow of his perfection
Is more delicate than the dewy garden and its roses.
More comfortable than a meadow and its roses

The mathematical sciences spring from the inspiration of his glance,
The sciences of mathematics are from the inspiration of his glance
And the verses of love's laws are in his form.

والحاظه في الفتك عن فتك أسده
The rampart of his beauty is enough to bar union with him,
The fence of his beauty suffices as a preventer
And his glances suffice for slaughter in place of his lions' assaults.
From the deadly blow of his lion-like audacity

I craved him with a fruitless love
Because of my heart's misery in passion and its toil.
To the misery of my heart from fervent love and its toil

And through time's tyranny and its justice, I remain
And I am upon the injustice of time and its justice
As the one I love wishes, faithful to his covenant.
However he wished, the one I loved, to keep his promise
