ولم ترحموا صبا قضى فيكموا شجوى
You lied in your claim and dealt unjustly through your oppression;
You lied with your claims and oppressed with your injustice,
And you showed no mercy to a lovesick lover who perished in sorrow for you.
And did not spare a youth who spent his prime pining for you.
عسىmay there be عطفةa gesture of kindness بالوصلthrough reunion ياO منthe one whom أحبهI love him
عسى عطفة بالوصل يا من أحبه
فلستfor I am not علىin the face of هجرانكمyour abandonment والهوىand passion أقوىable to endure
فلست على هجرانكم والهوى أقوى
I hope for the kindness of reunion, O you whom I love,
Maybe a moment of affection, O you whom I loved,
For I cannot endure your abandonment and passion.
For I cannot endure your abandonment, though passion remains strong.
