I have lived through time in many states, with dispositions

of many kinds, and experienced in it both gentleness and harshness.

I have worn them both; in prosperity I am made arrogant [wording unclear].

Nor have I made a habit of greed because of its hardships.

No affair fills my breast before it unfolds,

nor am I overwhelmed by it when it occurs.
