وماand not ارىI see أعجبَmore astonishing منthan جدوَلٍa rivulet
وما ارى أعجبَ من جدوَلٍ
ينضبُruns dry والأمواهُwhile the waters فيin النهرِthe river
ينضبُ والأمواهُ في النهرِ
And I see nothing more astonishing than a rivulet
I see nothing stranger than a brook,
That runs dry while the river has water.
That dries up while the river flows.

So leave people's bones in their grave,
So leave the bones of men in their graves,
And do not say 'my Zayd' or 'my Amr.'
And say not 'My Zaid' or 'My Amr'.
