ومثالَand embodiment الحسنِbeauty والظرفِand charm
ومثالَ الحسنِ والظرفِ
O figure of a bending bough,
O pillar of the bending branch
And embodiment of beauty and charm,
Model of beauty and grace
أنتَyou والطربوشُand the fez منحرفٌtilted
أنتَ والطربوشُ منحرفٌ
كهلالِlike the crescent الأفقِthe horizon فيat النصفِthe halfway point
كهلالِ الأفقِ في النصفِ
You, with the fez tilted,
You and the turban are askew
Are like the horizon’s crescent at the halfway point.
Like the crescent moon on the horizon
فاتقِso fear الخالقَthe Creator فيconcerning قومٍa people
فاتقِ الخالقَ في قومٍ
عبدواthey worshipped اللهَGod علىon حرفِan edge
عبدوا اللهَ على حرفِ
So fear the Creator for the sake of a people
So fear the Creator among a people
Who have worshipped God on the brink.
Who worshipped God to the letter
