أصبحَ كلُّ منظرا

أصبحَ كلُّ منظرا

فاتركْ لهُ منظرهُ

فاتركْ لهُ منظرهُ

Everyone has become an outward show,

Every view has become insipid

so leave him his outward appearance.

So leave each scene its own dull tinge

وأغضبِ الصاحبَ إن

وأغضبِ الصاحبَ إن

اردتَ أنْ تخبُرَهُ

اردتَ أنْ تخبُرَهُ

And anger your companion if

And if you wish your friend to know

you wish to test him.

Rouse him from tranquility with blows

فكلُّ ماءٍ كدرٍ

فكلُّ ماءٍ كدرٍ

من هاجهُ عكَّرهُ

من هاجهُ عكَّرهُ

For any murky water—

For any water, once disturbed

whoever stirs it muddies it.

Will have its limpid clearness blurred
