    Your cheeks, O woman with eyes

    deep-set and drowsy,

    are like a rose, save that

    the narcissus's gaze guards it.

    Ah, by your figure, which is one of

    those swaying boughs,

    and your red lips, and the wine

    that I have not tasted—

    indeed, when your figure dances

    and sways beneath the fine silk,

    and I gaze upon your smiling mouth,

    and you remain mine without frowning,

    and you give me the wine of passion to drink

    without those goblets,

    تي كالجواري الكنَّسِ

    I surely see the stars as my maidservants,

    like the maidens who sweep;

    كِ مليكَ كلِّ الأنفسِ

    and I fancy myself among kings,

    the sovereign of every soul;

    and through loving you I see every friendly companion

    present in my gathering.
