وثقيلٍand a bore باتَspent the night فيin نعمِblessings
وأرانيand I find myself منهُbecause of him فيin نقمِafflictions
And a bore spent the night in bliss,
Heavy with blessing I lay down to rest
And I find myself in misery because of him.
And woke to find myself deep in grief
قالhe said ألقاكَI will meet you صباحَmorning غدٍtomorrow
ياO غدُtomorrow عجّلتَyou hastened بالسقمِwith sickness
He said, “I will meet you tomorrow morning.”
"I'll see you in the morning," morning said
O tomorrow, you have brought sickness early!
Tomorrow, you have hastened with my pain
لوif يقومُwere to rise الميتونَthe dead غداًtomorrow
لتكاسلتُI would be lazy ولمand would not أقمِrise
If the dead were to rise tomorrow,
If all the dead shall rise again someday
I would be too lazy and would not rise.
I would have idled longer, never risen
