غصنٌa bough إذاwhen مالَhe swayed قمتُI rose منfrom شغفٍardent love
غصنٌ إذا مالَ قمتُ من شغفٍ
أمجِّدُI glorify اللهَGod كيفَhow سوَّاهُHe fashioned him
أمجِّدُ اللهَ كيفَ سوَّاهُ
A bough—when he sways, I rise out of ardent love;
When a branch leans down, I stand up, passionate -
I glorify God for how He fashioned him.
I glorify God, see how He designed it!
قالواthey said سباhe captured مهجتيmy heart فقلتُso I said لهمto them
قالوا سبا مهجتي فقلتُ لهم
ماwhatever فيin يدِthe hand of العبدِthe slave ملكُthe property of مولاهُhis master
ما في يدِ العبدِ ملكُ مولاهُ
They said he had captured my heart, so I told them:
They reviled my beloved, but I said to them:
Whatever is in the slave's hand is his master's property.
A servant has no control over his Master's possession.
