رُ قدْ عرفتَ مَخَزِّي

Sharpen your swords, O Time;

Sharpen your swords, O Dahar,

you already know my vulnerable spot.

You know my disgrace,

فلستُ أرجو لِذُلي

فلستُ أرجو لِذُلي

من كادني يومَ عِزِّي

من كادني يومَ عِزِّي

For in my humiliation I hope for no help

So I no longer hope for mercy

from one who plotted against me in my day of glory.

From those who sought to humble me in my glory,

وكم حبيبٍ فقدنا

وكم حبيبٍ فقدنا

فلمْ نجدْ من يغرِّي

فلمْ نجدْ من يغرِّي

And how many a beloved we have lost,

And how many loved ones have we lost,

and found no one to captivate us.

Yet found none who would avenge them.
