يا أنيسي ذرِ الحزينَ حزيناً
بعضَsome of ماwhat سامهُinflicted on him الهوىlove يكفيهِis enough for him
بعضَ ما سامهُ الهوى يكفيهِ
O my companion, leave the sorrowful one in sorrow.
O my friend, leave the sorrowful one sorrowful
Some of what love has inflicted on him is enough for him.
Some of what passion has made bear is enough for him
دعهُlet him يبكيhe weeps فذوfor one with الهمومِcares جديرٌapt
دعهُ يبكي فذو الهمومِ جديرٌ
أنthat ماwhat فيin فؤادهِhis heart يبكيهِmakes him weep
أن ما في فؤادهِ يبكيهِ
Let him weep, for one burdened with cares is apt
Let him cry, for one full of grief deserves
To be brought to tears by what is in his heart.
