Poverty is no disgrace, nor is wealth an honor.
Poverty is no shame, nor wealth a mark of merit,
Nor is generosity in an act of obedience extravagance.
Generosity in excess is but extravagance.

وَكُلُّ شَيءٍ أَخَّرتَهُ تَلَفُ
Nothing is yours but what you send ahead.
All that you have is what you give away,
And everything you leave behind is lost.
Everything you keep for later will decay.

Your leaving wealth to an heir who enjoys
Leave riches for your heirs, they'll joyfully receive them,
it, while you burn in its heat, is cause for regret.
And mourn you insincerely when you take your leave.
