I praise God gratefully,
God, I thank and praise Him
for His favor is good and beautiful.
His trials are good and beautiful

I have become sheltered and
I have become content and satisfied
well, roaming amid His blessings;
Wandering in the midst of His blessings

free of sorrows, lightly
Free from sorrows, unburdened
burdened; a little satisfies me;
The little suffices me at noon

free—no creature's stinginess
Free, so none can enslave me
weighs upon me, nor has any creature sway.
Or control me, I am unconstrained

No greed or avarice trouble me
avarice, nor far-reaching hope.
No far-fetched hopes make me toil

Alike in my eyes are the wealthy
The wealthy and the destitute are equal to me
spendthrift and the miserly man.
The spendthrift and the miser, I make no distinction

عَنّي فَطابَ لِيَ المَقيلُ
And through despair I banished wishes
And I put aside vain hopes with despair
from me, so my midday rest became pleasant.
So rest has become sweet for me

For people, a friend is one
costs little to maintain, are friends.
Whose provision is lightened
