قُ العَينَ حُسنُ صَفائِها

God's is a jewel that delights

the eye with the beauty of its clarity.

أَبصَرتُها فَحَمَدتُها

أَبصَرتُها فَحَمَدتُها

مِن قَبلُ حينَ جَلائِها

مِن قَبلُ حينَ جَلائِها

I saw it and praised it

before the time of its polishing.

فجلوتها لأزيدَها

فجلوتها لأزيدَها

في حسنها وبهائها

في حسنها وبهائها

So I polished it to enhance it

in its beauty and its splendor.

مدّت عليَّ عيوبها

مدّت عليَّ عيوبها

وعوارَها بجلائها

وعوارَها بجلائها

It revealed its flaws to me

and its blemishes through its polishing.

فَنَدِمتُ أَن لا كُنتُ قَد

فَنَدِمتُ أَن لا كُنتُ قَد

تَرَكتُها بِغَطائِها

تَرَكتُها بِغَطائِها

Then I regretted that I had not

left it beneath its covering,

وَرَضيتُ وَاِستَمتَعتُ مِن

وَرَضيتُ وَاِستَمتَعتُ مِن

ها زَهرَها بِرُوائِها

ها زَهرَها بِرُوائِها

and been content, taking pleasure in

its bloom in its fair appearance.
