وأغنى اللَه بالحسنِ بن سهلِ

وأغنى اللَه بالحسنِ بن سهلِ

فألقيت العصا وحططتُ رحلي

فألقيت العصا وحططتُ رحلي

And God freed me from want through al-Hasan ibn Sahl.

God enriched Hasan ibn Sahl with gifts

So I cast down the staff and set down my baggage.

So I cast my staff aside and unloaded my burden,

كأنَّ اللَه وكلهُ قياماً

كأنَّ اللَه وكلهُ قياماً

بحاجةِ معشرٍ وبجمعِ شملِ

بحاجةِ معشرٍ وبجمعِ شملِ

As though God had entrusted him with attending

As if God Almighty had risen

to a community's needs and restoring its unity.

For the need of a group and reunion of kin,

فأنت الدين والدنيا جميعاً

فأنت الدين والدنيا جميعاً

وأنتَ الناسُ وحدكَ يا آبنَ سهلِ

وأنتَ الناسُ وحدكَ يا آبنَ سهلِ

So you are faith and worldly life combined,

You are religion and worldly life together

And you alone are all humanity, O son of Sahl.

You alone are people, O son of Sahl!
