ياO اِبنَson of الهاشِمينَthe two Hashims طُرّاًentirely حُزتَyou have gained مَجدَهُماthe glory of them both
يا اِبنَ الهاشِمينَ طُرّاً حُزتَ مَجدَهُما
وَماand not تَخَوَّنهُhas diminished it نَقَضٌunravelling وَإِمرارُand twisting
وَما تَخَوَّنهُ نَقَضٌ وَإِمرارُ
O son of the two Hashims, you have gained their glory in full;
O son of Hashim, you have inherited their glory,
And neither unravelling nor twisting has diminished it.
Which no breach can undo, nor passage of time.
لاdo not تُشمِتَنَّcause to gloat بيover me الأَعداءَthe enemies إِنَّهُمfor they
لا تُشمِتَنَّ بي الأَعداءَ إِنَّهُم
بَينيbetween me وَبَينَكَand between you سُمّاعٌlisteners وَنُظّارُand watchers
بَيني وَبَينَكَ سُمّاعٌ وَنُظّارُ
Do not let the enemies gloat over me, for they
Do not let my enemies gloat over me, for they are
Listen and watch what passes between me and you.
But onlookers and eavesdroppers between you and me.
وَإِنَّand indeed شُكرِيَmy gratitude إِنif رُدّواthey are repelled بِغَيظِهِمُwith their rage
وَإِنَّ شُكرِيَ إِن رُدّوا بِغَيظِهِمُ
فيin ذِمَّةِthe keeping of اللَهِGod إِعلانٌpublic expression وَإِسرارُand secrecy
في ذِمَّةِ اللَهِ إِعلانٌ وَإِسرارُ
And my gratitude, if they are repelled in their rage,
And though they return my gratitude with their rage,
Is in God's keeping, openly and in secret.
My thanks are known to God openly and secretly.
فَاِكرُرso return بِنائِلِكَwith your bounty المَحمودِpraiseworthy مِنfrom سَعَةٍabundance
فَاِكرُر بِنائِلِكَ المَحمودِ مِن سَعَةٍ
عَلَيَّupon me إِنَّكَindeed you بِالمَعروفِwith kindness كَرّارُrepeatedly returning
عَلَيَّ إِنَّكَ بِالمَعروفِ كَرّارُ
So, from your abundance, bestow your praiseworthy bounty once more
So repeat your blessed favors to me abundantly,
Upon me; you return again and again with kindness.
For you are constantly disposed to kindness.
