خَليلَيَّmy two friends دُلّانيguide me, you two عَباثِرَʿAbāthir إِنَّهاindeed it
خَليلَيَّ دُلّاني عَباثِرَ إِنَّها
يَمُرُّpasses عَلىby قَيسِQays بنِson of سَعدٍSaʿd طَريقُهاits road
يَمُرُّ عَلى قَيسِ بنِ سَعدٍ طَريقُها
My two friends, guide me to ʿAbāthir, for
My friend, show me her ruins, for
its road passes by Qays ibn Saʿd.
His road passes by Qais ibn Sa`d.
هَدَتناguided us لَهاto it مَشبوبَةٌa blazing fire يُهتَدىone is guided بِهاby it
هَدَتنا لَها مَشبوبَةٌ يُهتَدى بِها
يُضيءُlights up ذُراsummits ذاتِDhāt العُظومِal-ʿUẓūm حَريقُهاits blaze
يُضيءُ ذُرا ذاتِ العُظومِ حَريقُها
A blazing fire guided us there; by it the way is found.
She has erected signposts by which she may be guided,
Its blaze lights the summits of Dhāt al-ʿUẓūm.
And which illuminate the site of her burnt bones.
