Glory be to your Lord! Repent of what you have done.

Whatever God blocks is bolted shut at dawn.

And can it be barred, when the pilgrims there, as

they climb through it, proclaim God's greatness and raise insistent cries?

Ever since God made its footing easy,

and since it was proclaimed that the House is visited on pilgrimage,

its narrow path has kept guiding the pilgrims—God's pilgrims—to it,

as though it were palm-leaf strips woven with leather thongs.

Leave the road to her open; for her visitor

and those dwelling in her are the proud-nosed, bright-faced ones.

May God not block a pass that used to be traversed by the—

white ones going to her by night, and the headstrong, long-necked mounts.

If God blocked it one day, and a cry then rose to Him

from whoever takes the pass, by evening it would be open.
