    إن تبدت أليس

    What a gentle gazelle!

    If she appears, is she not?

  2. أسكرتنا بلطف

    دونه الخندريس

    She intoxicated us with her grace;

    Even aged wine falls short of it.

  3. بلبل ما تغنت

    تشتهيها النفوس

    A nightingale, whenever she sang;

    Souls long for her.

  4. خالها غصن بان

    من رآها نميس

    One would take her for a slender bān branch.

    Whoever sees her—we sway.

  5. كل ما قد حوته

    فهو شيء نفيس

    Everything she possesses

    Is something precious.
