1. صفر تجلّى مسفرا

    عن نجمة في الزاهرات

    Safar shone forth, revealing

    a star among the radiant stars.

  2. طلعت تنير دجنّة

    رغم الليالي الحالكات

    She rose, illuminating the gloom,

    despite the pitch-dark nights.

  3. فأعاد مقدمها السعي

    د لأجلها طيب الحياة

    Her auspicious arrival restored

    for her sake, the sweetness of life.

  4. تسلي أباها عن أبيه

    فلا عدمتك يا فتاة

    She consoles her father for the loss of his father;

    so may I never lose you, O girl!

  5. سبحان من أبكى وأضح

    ك لاعتراض ولات لات

    Glory to Him who made us weep and laugh—

    no objection, and no, no.

  6. ما مر نصف الشهر حتى

    قال ربي خذ وهات

    Before half the month had passed,

    my Lord said, 'Take, and give.'

  7. فكأن روح الجد قد

    بعثت بها بعد الممات

    So it was as though the grandfather's spirit had

    been resurrected through her after death.

  8. مامية خير البنا

    ت وبنت خير الأمهات

    Mamiya, the best of daughters,

    and daughter of the best of mothers.

  9. وأخي أبوها الخزندا

    ري ناطق بالبينات

    And my brother, her father, al-Khaznadari,

    speaks with clear proofs,

  10. مذ قال في ميلادها

    أرخت لي خير البنات

    since he said at her birth:

    'I marked the date: mine is the best of daughters.'
