Life, however long it lasts, brings us closer to death.

In this, a day-old child and a ninety-year-old are alike.

Everyone hopes for a long life—how strange!

Bodies perish, but our hopes do not.

The earth's soil is made of nothing but our elements.

God is greatest! We give to it, and so it gives to us.

We harvest the vegetation, and it harvests us for nourishment.

Divine justice: we nourish it, and it nourishes us.

This is the way of this life, so let not

Our condition distress us, for death makes us equal.

Were it not for the solace that God will bring us back into being

After death, the corners of our eyes would never dry.
