Echo its remembrance in the ear, O April.

How noble a remembrance it was, and how radiant!

In every heart it has remembrance and a place,

Exalted, renewing within us the memory of its lord:

The lord of the throne, casting aside the crown though it was his,

For sovereignty had pleased him, and he had pleased it.

He granted his nation the right it had sought,

Yet the bitterest enemies of right opposed him.

    كل يسائلها أيان مرساها

    So his abdication roused the people in al-Khadra;

Each asks her when she will find anchorage.

She flew swiftly to him, though she was on foot:

For God's sake, care for beloved al-Nasir—for God's sake!

She circled before him, eyes fixed,

Gazing toward the radiant moon along her path.

They reclaimed the crown, held high, for its owner,

For through it he merited honor and prestige.

Whoever has his throne in the depths of hearts

Attains happiness in this world and the next.

There is no kingship save through a people by whom

The foundation of rule stands firm; it protects them, and they protect it.

By remembering you, we revive among kings a noble deed,

O Nasir, champion of right, if its merits are counted.

    It marked the close of your illustrious reign;

Each year, its remembrance revives you for us.
