حتى بدا من صاده

I guarded the heart against passion,

I guarded my heart against love,

until the one who ensnared it appeared—

Until the one who captured it appeared.

بحري الشباك يمدها

بحري الشباك يمدها

فنكون فيها زاده

فنكون فيها زاده

a fisherman spreading his nets,

A fisherman, he spreads the nets,

so that within them we might become his catch.

So within them we become his sustenance.

رافقته منذ الصبى

رافقته منذ الصبى

وحفظت فيه وداده

وحفظت فيه وداده

I have kept it company since youth

I have accompanied him since childhood,

and safeguarded his love within it.

And have kept my affection for him.

يزداد ودي كلما

في الحسن ربي زاده

في الحسن ربي زاده

My love grows whenever

My affection grows whenever

my Lord adds to his beauty.

My Lord increases his beauty.
