By your life, O Poetry, while you dwell among us,

Your life, O poetry, is between us

And by the sanctity of the esteemed pipes:

By the right of psalms of significance

ففي كل عصر لها آية

ففي كل عصر لها آية

وفي كل شيء عليها المدار

وفي كل شيء عليها المدار

For in every age they have a wondrous sign,

For in every age there is a miracle for it

And in all things, they are the pivot.

And in everything it is pivotal

فإنك في كل ما لغة

فإنك في كل ما لغة

لسحر البيان وكاس العقار

لسحر البيان وكاس العقار

For you, in every language,

You are in everything a language

Are indeed the magic of eloquence and the cup of wine;

Of the magic of rhetoric and the cup of wine

وإنك في كل ما أمة

وإنك في كل ما أمة

سهيل التقدم والاشتهار

سهيل التقدم والاشتهار

And you, in every nation,

And you are in every nation

Are the Canopus of progress and renown.

It is upon poetry to translate from

Your august self, swimming through the seas.

Your side swimming in the seas

وهاك قياما بواجبه

مسامرة الشاذلي الخزندار

And here, in fulfilment of its duty, is

And here I am fulfilling my duty

And you bestowed glory upon him that day,

And I was given the honor that day
