In the cleft-bearing earth lie our essences;

They are the secret of creation from of old.

وجسوم الخلق عناصرها

وجسوم الخلق عناصرها

فسل الأجداث عن الأمم

فسل الأجداث عن الأمم

And the bodies of creatures are its elements;

So ask the graves about the nations.

وإذا قدماك وطئت بها

وإذا قدماك وطئت بها

جدثا فاستغفر للقدم

جدثا فاستغفر للقدم

And if with your feet you tread upon

A grave, seek forgiveness for your foot.

وقل الأرماس موطن من

وقل الأرماس موطن من

سبقوا فلترع وتحترم

سبقوا فلترع وتحترم

And say: the graves are the dwelling of those

Who went before, so let them be tended and respected.

وإذا ما جئت مضاجعهم

وإذا ما جئت مضاجعهم

فمجيئك من صلة الرحم

فمجيئك من صلة الرحم

And whenever you come to their resting places,

Then your visit is an act of maintaining kinship.
