I have called down through the gaps in the clouds
I see the radiant lightnings through the clouds descending,
Thunderbolts driven by the scourge of torment.
Whipped to fury by torment's pitiless goad,

And a barrage of lightning from the sky struck him,
And from heaven's sublime and majestic lightning
Sending him back, against his will, to the dust.
Stones of chastisement hurl'd on the wicked's abode,

So rise, O buried one; present
Then arise, oh thou buried in slumber profound!
Your account—it is the Day of Reckoning.
Awaken! the hour of account is at hand,

And I am not blowing into the Trumpet, but
Not by me shall the trump be blown to confound thee,
We have set it forth as an example of punishment.
I cite but the law by supreme command.
