للّه بيتا بنيت فابشر

يا من صراطه مستقيم

For God you built a house, so rejoice,

O you whose path is straight.

أقمت فيه الصلاة دينا

إذ قال رب الورى أقيموا

You established prayer within it as a religious duty,

when the Lord of creation said, 'Establish prayer.'

أنت البشير التقى الحسيني

فليفتخر بيتك الفخيم

You are al-Bashir, the pious al-Husayni,

so let your magnificent house take pride.

إنا علمنا عليك خيرا

واللّه أيضا به عليم

Indeed, we have known goodness in you,

and God, too, is fully aware of it.

يا من نهى النفس عن هواها

دنيا وأخرى لك النعيم

O you who restrained the soul from its desires,

in this world and the next, bliss is yours.

أعظم بمسجدك المعلى

يدعولك الركن والحطيم

How great is your exalted mosque!

The Corner and the Hatim pray for you.

مذ كنت فينا العظيم قدرا

أرخ هو المسجد العظيم

Since you have been great in standing among us,

record the date: 'It is the great mosque.'
