  2. يروي حديثا غريبا

    فأنصت وقل إيه إيه

    recounts a strange tale.

    So listen and say, “Go on, go on.”

  3. تقول إني مخطى

    وذاك ما تدعيه

    You say that I am mistaken,

    and that is what you claim.

  4. قلبت ظهر مجن

    بفتوة لفقيه

    You turned the back of a shield

    with a jurist’s fatwa.

  5. وما المحاماة إلا

    من مثل ما تجريه

    And advocacy is nothing but

    the kind of thing you carry out.

  6. صبرتني فيك مرمى

    جربت علمك فيه

    You held me as a target for yourself,

    on which you tested your knowledge.
