Another land—yet how often I am humiliated in my own!

My people denied what they knew of me, and there appeared

How could my mouth consent to the crushing of my mouth?
And how could my hand consent to the severing of my hand?

قدindeed عثرstumbled الحظfortune بيwith me وأنتand you لهاare equal to it
قد عثر الحظ بي وأنت لها
فقلso say لَعَاmay you rise again! مرّةonce ولاand do not تزِدadd more
فقل لَعَا مرّة ولا تزِد
Fortune has stumbled with me, and you are equal to this:
So say, 'May you rise again!' once, and say no more.
