وليس يخلو الزَمان من سَفَلٍ

وليس يخلو الزَمان من سَفَلٍ

فيه ولاَ من خيانة وخنى

فيه ولاَ من خيانة وخنى

And time is not free of base people

Time is not devoid of fools,

Within it, nor of treachery and foul speech.

Nor is it free of betrayal and treachery.

ما سَلِمَ الله والنبي ولا

ما سَلِمَ الله والنبي ولا

الصديق من قولهم فكيف أنا

الصديق من قولهم فكيف أنا

God and the Prophet were not safe—nor was

Neither God, nor the Prophet, nor

al-Siddiq—from their words; so how could I be?

The Righteous One is safe from their words, so how could I be?
