O my neighbor, I see you have broken the promise.
O my neighbor, I see you broke your promise
And forgotten those encounters and the helping hand.
And forgot those occasions and helping hands

And I marveled at you: I found your heart hard,
And I was surprised by you, I saw your heart so harsh
While perfume and dew waft from your cheeks.
While charm still emits from your cheeks

What had I to do with you, and you with me?
There was nothing between me and you all
You were my loved ones; you have turned into my foes.
You were my loved ones, now you turned backs

I shall surely make the pale camels brave every desert waste,
I will destroy the fodder of every lowland
That swallows the hardy, the massive, and the rugged camels.
That winds around Al-Alanda and Al-Jal'ada

That folds up the books—nay, makes solid rock tremble.
That folds the records, nay, shakes the mountains

O King al-Muzaffar, a plea:
O Victorious King, my soul is your ransom
May my soul be your ransom, and your enviers your ransom too.
And your enviers have only loyalty to you

ظنوا بأن الأمر متروكاً سُدى
Do not spare the Bedouins—Bedouins they are not.
Do not pity the nomads, they are no nomads
They thought the matter had been left unattended.
They thought the matter was neglected vainly

By God, their oaths have availed them nothing.
By Allah, their oaths did not benefit them
They left your palaces in the towns a barren waste.
They left your palaces in the cities destroyed

Surdud yields nothing, nor does al-Kudra; and whoever
No reinforcement comes, nor the infantry, and whoever
Comes to Dhu'al finds horses lying in wait.
Comes seeking finds horses stationed

As for plowing, they have turned their ox-teams loose;
As for the farmers, they strayed their camels
Not a soul remains to fit a yoke.
No one remained to saddle a camel

Likewise camel transport: they have no camel left
And so are the archers, no camel remained for them
For the driver to ride by night to you as he chants.
That the guide rides to you when called

There is none left but the Sword of Pride, he
Has not betrayed your covenant since you knew him, nor transgressed—
Did not betray your covenant since knowing you, nor transgressed

And he has indeed girded and robed himself in loyalty.
Was determined with advice and dressed for battle

And so is Al-Qubaiee, from Ghafiq
For Ali is the noblest-born of all the living.
Ali is the most pious, blessed birth

There is no one left but these three masters
And those besides them have broken their promise to you.
And the others betrayed your promise

As for the wicked Wataweet, his nursing
He spread corruption under King al-Muzaffar's rule.
Corrupted the state of King Muzaffar

A mouse sniffed his loaf, he would sigh.
Of a fleeing rat, smelling his loaf, sighing

And he saw [unclear wording] a banner, so [unclear wording].
And hold a banner that will collapse

Lo! He swore to lay waste Surdud.
Swore to destroy the reinforcement yesterday

Your father Muzaffar the Fortunate
So you proved more auspicious and fortunate than your father.
You appeared more blessed than your father
