من لم يضف للعلم علما زائدا

من لم يضف للعلم علما زائدا

في كل يوم فهو في نقصان

في كل يوم فهو في نقصان

Whoever does not add further knowledge to his learning

Whoever does not add to knowledge an extra knowledge

Whoever does not add an increase to his knowledge,

Every day is therefore in decline.

Every day, he is in decline

Is, with every passing day, in a state of decline.

من لم يكن للإختبار محضرا

من لم يكن للإختبار محضرا

ومراجعا بشره بالخسران

ومراجعا بشره بالخسران

Whoever does not prepare for the examination

Whoever is not prepared for the test

Whoever is not prepared for the examination,

And review—give him tidings of failure.

And reviewing, let him be forewarned of loss

Nor diligent in review—give him the tidings of loss.
