They are the eloquent Arabs; theirs is eloquence,
They are the eloquent Arabs, theirs is eloquence
They are the eloquent Arabs, possessing clear speech,
Clear, without the slightest blemish.
Clear, with no blemish or fault
Manifest, bearing not the slightest blemish,

The Upholder of tongues thus shaded them with eloquence,
Their tongues are straight, so their eloquence
The Rectifier of tongues endowed them with expression,
And poetry—a favor from Him and mercy.
And poetry are a gift and mercy from Him
And with poetry—a favor from Him and a mercy.

And indeed, in eloquence there is magic for us,
Indeed in eloquence we have magic
For truly, in some eloquence, we find enchantment,
And indeed, in verse there is wisdom for us.
And in verse we have wisdom
And truly, in some verse, we find wisdom.
