Youth has transgressed against values,
The youth have turned away from virtue
Youth has transgressed against values,
And hurled accusations at religious laws.
And accused moral laws of defects
And cast accusations upon the sacred laws,
وأبىand rejected النصيحةcounsel تابعاfollowing
وأبى النصيحة تابعا
لهواهafter its own desire يخبطstumbles فيin الظلمdarkness
لهواه يخبط في الظلم
It has rejected counsel, following
Refusing advice, following
Refusing counsel, following instead
Its own desire, stumbling through darkness.
Their passions into darkness
Their own whims, stumbling through the darkness.
ويحalas for الشبابyouth منbecause of الهوىdesire
ويح الشباب من الهوى
إنindeed الهوىdesire فيهwithin it احتكمhas taken command
إن الهوى فيه احتكم
Alas for youth because of desire!
Alas for youth misled by desire!
Woe unto youth because of caprice,
Indeed, desire has taken command within it.
For in desire lies misjudgment
For desire has taken dominion over them.
هجرhas abandoned الهدىguidance وسبيلهand its path
هجر الهدى وسبيله
وعلىand toward الغواياتtemptations ازدحمthronged
وعلى الغوايات ازدحم
It has abandoned guidance and its path,
They have abandoned righteousness
Abandoning guidance and its path,
And thronged toward temptations.
Crowding the paths of error
While crowding upon the ways of error.
أينwhere is الشبابyouth ووعيهand its awareness
أين الشباب ووعيه
ونشاطهand its vigor مهماwhatever عزمit resolves to do؟
ونشاطه مهما عزم؟
Where is youth, and its awareness,
Where is the youth and his awareness?
Where is the youth and their awareness,
And its vigor in whatever it resolves to do?
His vigor, however resolute?
And their vigor whenever they resolved to act?
أينwhere is الشبابyouth المهتديrightly guided
أين الشباب المهتدي
إنيindeed I هتفتcalled out بهto it فلمbut did not…
إني هتفت به فلم
Where is rightly guided youth?
Where is the rightly-guided youth?
Where is the rightly guided youth?
I have called out to it, but it has not...
I cried out to him but he answered not
I called out to them, yet they did not respond.
ثبspring ياO شبابyouth إلىtoward الهدىguidance
ثب يا شباب إلى الهدى
إنindeed الضلالmisguidance عليكover you عمhas spread
إن الضلال عليك عم
Spring, O youth, toward guidance!
Take a stand, O youth, for guidance
Return, O youth, to the path of guidance,
Indeed, misguidance has spread over you.
Straying surely encompasses you
For error has spread its darkness over you.
الدينreligion عاصمكyour protector الذيwhich
الدين عاصمك الذي
ينفيbanishes هواكyour desire بماby what عصمit has protected
ينفي هواك بما عصم
Religion is your protector, which
Religion is your protection
Religion is your safeguard which
Banishes your desire through the protection it gives.
Banishing passions that corrupt
Repels your whims through its protection.
ملturn للمتابtoward repentance مسارعاhastening
مل للمتاب مسارعا
واجنحand incline لهtoward it قبلbefore الندمregret
واجنح له قبل الندم
Turn toward repentance, hastening,
Turn to it, repenting
Turn quickly toward repentance,
And incline toward it before regret.
Incline to it before regret
And embrace it before the arrival of regret.
منwhoever ظنthinks أنthat الدينreligion منfrom
من ظن أن الدين من
خورweakness النفوسof souls فقدthen indeed وهمhas erred
خور النفوس فقد وهم
Whoever thinks that religion comes from
Who supposes religion to be
Whoever thinks that faith stems from
Weakness of soul has indeed erred.
The ruin of souls is deluded
Weakness of the soul is truly deluded.
تبكيyou mourn السعادةhappiness آيساdespairing
تبكي السعادة آيسا
وتظنand you think معناهاits meaning انعدمhas vanished
وتظن معناها انعدم
You mourn happiness, despairing,
Bliss weeps in despair
You weep for happiness in despair,
And think its meaning has vanished.
Thinking its meaning lost
Thinking its very meaning has ceased to exist.
إنindeed السعادةhappiness فيin حمىthe sanctuary of الـthe
إن السعادة في حمى الـ
إيمانfaith راسخةfirmly established القدمthe foot
إيمان راسخة القدم
Indeed, happiness, in the sanctuary of
Bliss lies in the fortress of
True happiness lies within the sanctuary of
Faith, stands with firm footing.
Unshakable faith
Faith, standing steadfast and firm.
إنindeed السعادةhappiness نعمةthe blessing of الـthe
إن السعادة نعمة الـ
إسلامIslam وهوand it is أبوthe father of النعمblessings
إسلام وهو أبو النعم
Indeed, happiness is the blessing of
Bliss is the blessing of
Happiness is the blessing of
Islam, which is the father of blessings.
Islam, best of blessings
Islam, the very father of blessings.
أقبلturn عليهtoward it فإنهfor it is
أقبل عليه فإنه
دينa religion بهin which سعدthe happiness of الأممnations
دين به سعد الأمم
Turn toward it, for it is
Embrace it, for it
Turn towards it, for it is
A religion wherein lies the happiness of nations.
Brings joy to nations
A faith through which nations find their joy.
