لستُI am not وحـديon my own منthe one who نهاكَforbade you
You, O my heart, are stubborn.
My heart, you are stubborn
O my heart, you are so stubborn,
I am not the only one who forbade you
I'm not the only one who forbids you
I am not the only one who warned you

كِلْـتَyou meted out ليto me منـهُfrom it الهلاكَruin
From unceasing ingratitude.
From constant ingratitude
Against a perpetual obstinacy
Through it, you have meted out ruin to me.
You have brought me ruin
From which you have meted out my ruin.
ثـائـرٌrebellious فيin كـلِّevery يـومٍday
لاnot تَــرىyou see إلاexcept رضاكَyour satisfaction
Rebellious every day,
Rebellious every day
Rebellious every single day,
You see nothing but your own satisfaction.
You only see your satisfaction
You see nothing but your own desires.

ابتعـدْkeep away، حاذرْbeware كفاكَenough for you
Do not take risks; go slowly.
Don't take risks, go slowly
Do not be reckless, tread softly,
Keep away; beware—you have had enough.
Stay away, beware your aggression
Step away, beware, enough is enough.
اصغlisten واسْتَمْسِكْand hold fast بِنُصْحيto my advice
إنَّindeed عقليmy reason قدindeed دعـاكَcalled you
Listen, and hold fast to my advice.
Listen and hold onto my advice
Listen and hold fast to my counsel,
Indeed, my reason has called you.
My mind has called out to you
For my mind has called out to you.
فِتْـنـةٌa temptation واحْتَرْتُand I am bewildered فيـهاby it
قَـدْindeed أصابتْstruck منthe one who رعاكَcared for you
A temptation—and I am bewildered by it—
It's a seduction and I'm confused in it
It is a seduction that leaves me bewildered,
Has struck the one who cared for you.
It has struck what it struck you
It has afflicted the one who nurtured you.
يافـؤاديO my heart كنتَyou were إِلْـفيmy intimate companion
ماالـذيwhat is it that عنيaway from me دهـاكَhas befallen you؟
O my heart, you were my intimate companion.
My heart, you were my friend
O my heart, you were my intimate companion,
What has come over you, turning you away from me?
What has distanced you from me?
What has driven you away from me?
عَلَّperhaps مَسّـاًa touch منof جـُنونٍmadness
حِـرْتُI am bewildered فيabout أمريmy plight فداكَmay I be your ransom
Perhaps a touch of madness—
A touch of madness came upon you
Perhaps it is a touch of madness;
I am bewildered about my plight; may I be your ransom!
I'm confused, my life for you
I am lost in my affairs, though I would be your ransom.
لمnot تعـدْyou remain بَعْضـاًa part مُـصابـاًstricken
قدindeed رمانيstruck me ماwhat رمـاكَstruck you
You are no longer merely a stricken part of me;
You've ceased being sympathetic
You are no longer just an afflicted part of me,
What struck you has struck me.
It cast me what it cast you
For what has struck you has also struck me.
O my heart
عندwith عقليmy reason خُذْtake دواكَyour remedy
Be attentive, O my heart;
Be attentive my heart
Be willing to listen, O my heart,
Take your remedy from my reason.
Take your medicine with my mind
And seek your cure within my mind.
