حينماwhen سَلَّمْتُI surrendered أمريmy affairs

ارتضىhe accepted روحيmy soul فداهُa ransom for him

When I surrendered my affairs,

He accepted my soul as his ransom.
My soul was pleased to sacrifice itself for him.

حافظٌkeeper للعهـدِof the pledge شَهْمٌnoble-hearted
حافظٌ للعهـدِ شَهْمٌ
مستقيمٌupright فـيin خُطاهُhis steps
مستقيمٌ فـي خُطاهُ
He keeps the pledge, noble-hearted,
Steadfast in keeping promises, brave,
A chivalrous keeper of the covenant,
Upright in his steps.

ماعلمناwe have known no فيهin him عـيباًfault
ماعلمنا فيه عـيباً
بعـدُyet لمnot ندركwe fathom مـداهُhis extent
بعـدُ لم ندرك مـداهُ
We have known no fault in him;
We have not known any fault in him,
We have known no flaw in him,
We have not yet fathomed his full measure.
We could not fathom his extent afterwards.
And we have yet to grasp his full extent.
إنهindeed he is للحـبِّfor love عُـشٌّa nest
إنه للحـبِّ عُـشٌّ
بـيتهhis house مسكٌmusk شـذاهُits fragrance
بـيته مسكٌ شـذاهُ
Indeed, he is a nest for love;
He is a nest for love,
Truly, he is a nest for love,
His house—its fragrance is musk.
His home is musk and its fragrance.
The fragrance of his dwelling is musk.
ملهِمٌan inspirer فيon الأرضِthe earth نـورٌa light
ملهِمٌ في الأرضِ نـورٌ
كوكبٌa star ماnone فيat علاهُhis height
كوكبٌ ما في علاهُ
An inspirer, a light on earth,
An inspiring light on earth,
An inspiration, a light upon the earth,
A star—none is at his height.
A planet with no peer in highness.
A star unmatched in its heights.
قلْtell لهto him مهماno matter how توارىhe hides himself
قلْ له مهما توارى
سِـرُّthe secret سِـرِّيmy secret أنْthat أراهُI see him
سِـرُّ سِـرِّي أنْ أراهُ
Tell him, no matter how he hides:
Say to him no matter how he hides,
Tell him, no matter how he conceals himself,
The secret of my secret is to see him,
The secret of my secret is to see him.
The deepest secret of my soul is to see him.
مُؤْنِسيmy companion فيin وحدتيmy solitude ياO
مُؤْنِسي في وحدتي يا
رَبِّmy Lord بيthrough me حَقِّقْfulfill مـناهُhis wishes
رَبِّ بي حَقِّقْ مـناهُ
My companion in my solitude—O
My companion in my loneliness, oh Lord
My companion in my solitude, O
my Lord, fulfill his wishes through me.
Make his wishes for me come true.
