صلى الاله على قبر وساكنه
دونon this side of الثويةal-Thawiyya تجريflows فوقهabove it المورُwindblown dust
دون الثوية تجري فوقه المورُ
May God bless a grave and its dweller,
May God send blessings upon a grave and its dweller
On this side of al-Thawiyya, windblown dust flows over it.
Below the sand dunes flow seas above him
أَباAbu (father of) الغيرةal-Ghirah (protective jealousy) والدنياand the world مغيرةٌbringing change
أَبا الغيرة والدنيا مغيرةٌ
إِنindeed امرءاًa man غرَّتhas deceived الدنياthe world لمغرورُsurely deluded
إِن امرءاً غرَّت الدنيا لمغرورُ
Abu al-Ghirah—while the world brings change;
O father of zeal, for the world is ever-changing
Indeed, a man whom the world has deceived is surely deluded.
Verily he whom the world has deceived is misled
