    Listen, you jealous, enraged man:

Why be jealous when you have been given no cause?

Then what good is a wife if you fear her?

And what good is a house if no one visits it?

You are jealous lest people look at her,

And does looking tempt virtuous women?

For I shall leave her house to her,

Then she may guard her honor, or forsake it.

If God has not given him her love,

Then no tightly twisted whip will give him love.

He nearly tears his ribs apart

Whenever he sees a visitor or sets out.

Who, then, will watch over his wife for him

When travel wears him and the riding camels down?
